Introduction of Decorative Thin Film Coating

Decorative coatings are widely used in daily life, including decorative artworks, stage lighting, artificial jewelry, and beautification of objects.

In industry, decorative coatings can improve the appearance and color of workpieces, while making them more wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant and extending their service life. The application range includes door and window hardware, locks, bathroom hardware, cosmetics, mobile phones, notebooks, clocks, etc.

Decorative coatings for wireless products, in addition to being beautiful, must not interfere with the transmission of radio frequency signals. They are mainly used in mobile phone panels, touch-screen home appliance panels, etc.

Color Series

Vacuum coating can produce various colors of thin film layers, including dark golden yellow, light golden yellow, brown, bronze, gray, black, gray-black, etc. Common vacuum decorative coatings have the following main color systems:

  • Rose gold, by coating alloy of gold and copper. Because it has a very fashionable and beautiful rose red color, it is widely used in jewelry design and processing. It is also called pink gold and red gold.
  • Gold, using ion plating, allows the gold on the target material to be deposited on the workpiece to be plated. It is generally composed of two layers: the imitation gold layer and the surface gold layer. The color of the surface gold layer is the same as 24K gold, and the thickness can be plated according to customer requirements.
  • Imitation gold series (including imitation gold and imitation rose gold). This series does not contain gold. The general composition is composed of ceramic compounds such as TiN TiCN ZrN ZrCN. The color is close to rose gold and gold, and the brightness is lower than real gold.
  • Silver series, generally chromium compounds, the color depth can be adjusted, can be divided into cold series and warm series, the cold series has a blue tone, the metal light is good, the warm series has a yellow tone, close to the original color of stainless steel.
  • Gray series, generally composed of titanium compounds or chromium compounds, the color depth can be adjusted, and the color tone can also be adjusted according to customer requirements.
  • Black series, generally composed of metal carbides, the color depth can be adjusted, and the color tone can also be adjusted according to customer requirements. Different metal carbides have different characteristics and tones, and different film systems can be selected according to customer needs.
  • Blue series, there are sky blue, ice blue, ocean blue, dark blue, etc., and the components of different color systems are also different.
  • Purple series.
  • Special light effect series. It uses multiple dielectric films to achieve desired color, tansparency and reflection. This coating will show different apprearance from general metal coatings or traditional ink/pigment printing.
